Group Therapy in Florida

What is Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a type of therapy done with a small group of other people. The group is hosted by a mental health practitioner, and the groups tend to focus on a certain theme or topic.

How is Group Therapy Different From Individual Therapy?

Group therapy is less personalized than individual therapy. Usually, the therapist will have an ideal outline for the session which they will refer back to if the group gets too off-topic.

What Are the Benefits of Group Therapy?

  • Gain support and encouragement from people in similar situations

  • Increase social skills

  • Build community

  • More affordable than individual therapy

What to Expect in a Group Session

  • Group Therapy sessions at Mindful Blooms Counseling will have 4-8 people in it.

  • I host closed groups which means you’ll finish a group with the same people you started.

  • New people who would like to attend the group will have to wait for the following cohort.

  • Group sessions will be biweekly.

  • Group length depends on the type.

  • As this is still a form of therapy confidentiality and ethics rules will still be adhered to.

Who Can Join Therapy Groups?

This depends on the group that you’re interested in. You will need to be a Florida resident as I am only licensed to provide therapy in Florida. You will also need to submit an interest form and do a consultation call before being accepted. Some groups are more clinical and others are for processing certain experiences. We want to be sure the group will be a good fit for you and the other members!
